Our clients approached Box Clever Interiors as they prepared to transition into apartment living, downsizing from a larger family home without compromising on comfort, style, or functionality. The brief was clear: create a refined, low-maintenance coastal interior that felt spacious, purposeful, and effortlessly liveable. Every element needed to earn its place, balancing practicality with a sense of calm, elevated living. Downsizing is never just about reducing space – it’s about redefining how you live. We began with thoughtful space planning to ensure the apartment functioned intuitively, maximising flow and usability within a smaller footprint. Storage was carefully integrated, and furniture selections were scaled to enhance openness rather than compete with it.
What we love
The considered layering of detail throughout this apartment, where thoughtful design choices elevate everyday spaces in subtle but impactful ways. We especially love the clever use of wallpaper in the powder room, which brings personality, depth, and a moment of surprise within the home. In a compact space, the wallpaper becomes a design feature rather than just a finish – creating a bold yet refined focal point that feels intentional and full of character.
In the bathroom, the introduction of reeded glass to the shower and WC zones is both practical and beautifully resolved. It allows natural light to filter through while providing privacy, creating a soft visual separation without closing the space in. The texture of the glass adds a layer of sophistication and ties seamlessly into the overall calm, coastal aesthetic of the apartment. Together, these details demonstrate how small, well-considered design decisions can completely transform the feel of a home – bringing interest, functionality, and a quiet sense of luxury to downsized living.
