The Brief
Like many apartments on the Sunshine Coast, this unit originally built over 30 years ago was ready for a complete transformation. Purchased by a Brisbane-based client as her future beach home for retirement, the vision was to create a sophisticated, low-maintenance coastal retreat that maximised both space and lifestyle. The existing layout presented challenges, with limited space and an underutilised connection to the surrounding views. Our brief was to rethink the interior planning, introducing clever, considered design solutions to improve functionality while enhancing the sense of openness and light. The renovation included a full redesign of the kitchen, both bathrooms, and the laundry, alongside a complete furniture and styling package. Each element was carefully selected to optimise the footprint while delivering a refined, high-end coastal aesthetic. The result is a beautifully resolved apartment that feels spacious, considered, and perfectly suited to relaxed Sunshine Coast living.
What we love
This project is all about the thoughtful, custom details that elevate the space. Our favourite pieces are the bespoke swivel chairs and the built-in bench seat within the living area designed to maximise both comfort and functionality without compromising on style.
Locally made in Brisbane, the swivel chairs feature a striking Zepel fabric to the reverse, adding a subtle yet impactful design moment. These layered details bring personality and individuality to the space, while maintaining a refined, cohesive aesthetic.
We also love the delicate colour palette, which softly reflects the coastal setting without feeling clichéd. The result is a calm, sophisticated interior that feels timeless, considered, and perfectly in tune with its Sunshine Coast location.
